When can I begin studying Chinese at Mandarin House? |
A. Mandarin House has a flexible schedule and you can begin a one-to-one Chinese course any time you wish. This aside, non-beginners can join our group classes every Monday, and if you are a total beginner, we offer a new intake every four weeks. The 2012 dates for beginners are: Jan 16, Feb 20, Mar 19, Apr 16, May 14, Jun 11, Jun 25, Jul 09, Jul 23, Aug 06, Sep 03, Oct 08, Nov 05, and Dec 03.

How will I know my Chinese level? |
A. Before joining our classes or beginning private one-to-one lessons, Mandarin House Chinese School will give you a professional assessment consisting of a written exam and an oral test. Based on this assessment, you will be placed into class level most appropriate for you.

What separates Mandarin House Chinese Schools from universities and other schools? |
A. Mandarin House places a special focus on quality and flexibility. Where can I have Mandarin House lessons? |
A. All over China. We have 2 dedicated schools located in the very hearts of Beijing and Shanghai which offer lively, interactive classes and a central location for your study. We also arrange private lessons and/or corporate Mandarin training in all major cities across China.

Which type of visa should I apply to study Chinese with Mandarin House? |
A. We recommend you apply for the L visa (tourist visa) if you are staying for less than 3 month, or the F visa (business visa) if you plan to stay for longer than 3 months.

Where can I live while learning Chinese in Beijing or Shanghai? |
A. Mandarin House can arrange living accommodation to optimize your China experience. You can choose from a few different types of accommodation that are mostly within walking distance from the school. Our most popular option is homestay where you are given a Single Room and live together with a host family. You can also choose to stay in one of our Shared Apartments and live together with other students or alternatively stay at a Private Studio Apartment, Hostel or Hotel.

Besides Chinese lessons, what else can I do at Mandarin House? |
A. Mandarin House is dedicated to taking you out of the classroom and showing you the real China. We offer a number of out-of-school excursions and our experienced coordinators are looking forward to give you a unique insight as to what makes the character of these special places so distinctive. You may also want make dumplings, learn tai-chi or calligraphy, experience a tea ceremony or to take part in some other of the traditional, cultural activities we regularly organize.

How can I pay for my Chinese program? |
A. If you live outside of China, you may pay by bank transfer or Paypal; If you live in China, you may come to our school and pay by cash or credit card.

Where do Mandarin House students come from? |
A. Mandarin House teaches students from over 70 different countries coming from all around the world. Depending on circumstances, 25% of our students come from North America, 25% come from Western Europe and the rest come from other parts of the world.

What age are Mandarin House students? |
A. Students of all ages have studied at Mandarin House ranging from 5 to 75 years! Most of our students average between 23 and 35 years old.
